Therapists can give you ideas of some behavior modification for adults they have used with some of their patients. One method that is often recommended is setting yourself goals to meet each day. Some people make a list on paper whereas others use a hand held computer to write them down. At the end of each day, they can see how many of their goals have been met.

At the end of the day, they can look at all the reminders to see how many of the tasks were completed. Setting goals for ourselves is very helpful. Some examples are coming to work on time each day. This may seem like a simple thing, but is difficult for many. Keeping the house clean may be another goal we set for ourselves. You must be realistic with your goals and not expect to change a dozen bad habits overnight. Start with the smallest goals and tasks.
